Brooo i haven’t done art (at least full pieces not only half finished sketches) in ages and its slowly driving me insane

I need to create shit but i can’t because my fucking job is taking up all my energy

I fucking hate it here

fuck capitalism i hate working so fucking much the first few months in a new job are like 'mh that's kinda interesting but i'll need more time to figure out wtf i'm supposed to do here' and then a lot of months in i realize that i will never fiure out how to do things in my job because i actually hate doing said things and i can't work as an artist because then i will start hating to make art which i did before and it was the worst

I’ve been pointedly refusing to use the term “content creators” to refer to artists anymore, because I want to make art for me and the people I care about, not the endless demands of the algorithm. I’m not trying to Produce Content, I want to make art.

So it is deeply, deeply irritating when I use the word “artist” in a post and it gets endlessly reblogged with people asking “but what about writers? but what about actors? but what about musicians? but what about [x]?”

All types of art are included in the term “artist,” god damn it. “Artist” does not just mean “someone who draws pictures.”

I don’t know why so many people keep taking this post as “yeah, we should come up with a better word for content creators!”

THAT WORD ALREADY EXISTS.

THE WORD IS “ARTIST,” Y'ALL.

THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS DAMN POST.

The word “artist” is all-encompassing! By! Definition! We don’t need to keep reinventing the fucking wheel!

Do you make art? Any kind of art? Drawings, paintings, comics, novels, songs, dances, photographs, performances, anything creative?

THAT’S ART, BABE. YOU ARE AN ARTIST.

RESIST CAPITALIST COMMODIFICATION OF ART AND CLAIM THE DAMN TITLE.

hey guys so apparently this is a thing a lot of people don’t realise but like. if you have had writer’s block/ art block for like. six months. a year. two years. that’s maybe not a block. that’s maybe depression. and you should maybe look into treating the source of the problem instead of just beating yourself up for not being able to write/draw. be kind to yourself and know that your struggle to create isn’t based in laziness or a lack of skill or talent.

You also do have like, a finite amount of energy. Especially creative and emotional energy.

The celebrate-the-grind stories where some famous artist held down two grueling part-time jobs to make ends meet and got by on four hours of sleep a night so they’d have time to write their novel or paint or whatever, so what’s your excuse are absolute bullshit. We should look at those about the same as we look at long-haul truckers doing a lot of amphetamines to handle driving for 16 hours a day or AAA game studios and crunch time.

So yeah, if your ability to make art has dried up, you really should take a good look at the underlying reasons and see if there’s maybe some self-care you need to be doing. The answer is pretty much never “laziness.”

OC-tober prompt list!

I tried to not focus it on humanoid OC’s that much (clothing), so people with feral OC’s can participate!

If you decide to use this list, feel free to tag me in your art, I wanna see it!

-take a picture of yourself in whatever outfit you happen to be wearing, in whatever pose is most comfortable.

-set a timer for 20 minutes

-draw the OC you mentioned most recently, in your current outfit and pose

It’s that time of the year again, soldiers!!

I was looking everywhere for a BG3-themed Inktober challenge and after not finding one, I decided to make one myself (I tried to make this as spoiler-friendly and open-ended as possible).

Disclaimer: you don’t have to do every day in this prompt sheet. I know how stressful it gets when it comes to creating a piece for every single day for the month of October. You can pick and choose what you want to draw for each day. This is mainly just a guideline.

INTRODUCING… OC - TOBER

(The idea came to me late at night and I couldn’t stop giggling at the name pun.. and I still am.)

My bestie @ruvikkin-art and I decided to make our very own october art challenge for the people that can’t stop making OCs or have way too many of them!

This challenge is all about YOU and your characters!

There are no rules except one: you need to draw your own characters.

These characters can either be already existing OCs or you can make up entirely new ones for the themes! You have complete freedom of how to tackle the themes and anything is allowed from drawing an astronaut for the “Space Theme” or just an OC who’s stargazing!

Please do share your amazing art with us and use one of the hashtags #oc-tober or #oc tober !!

To make it easier you can also tag any of us so we can reblog your art!
